Goldilocks...

"Who has been sleeping in MY bed??"
Molly wondering when her turn will be on her bed while Sizzler and Snowbelle lounge. Peace has reigned so far in the kingdom with cats and dogs coexisting.

Super Soccer Day!

Finally, after four rain out dates- the Lees Summit GREY SHARKS played a SOCCER GAME TODAY! Whereas at practice our young player seemed lacking in comprehension for the sport, today, he was a dynamo on the field. (Well, he was a six year old playing 3 on 3 soccer for the first time dynamo-ish!) He stayed with the ball, played very defensively blocking several of their goals and scored the Grey Sharks' only goal!

Family Book Club Field Trip

Our big dream of taking kids to an author's festival came true on Friday. Students who joined our book club with a parent, came to family book club nights throughout the year and then got to go on our big field trip on Friday.

Excited to REGISTER for Kindergarten!

This a glimpse of the excitement level at Meadow Lane Elementary tonight! Every darling little girl we know from our neighborhood, from preschool and from soccer was there to register to be a kindergartener next year! Sadie was so thrilled to start her journey to school!

Spring FINALLY comes to Missouri- sort of!

We enjoyed the end of spring break and the Easter weekend with our favorite Creemer cousins at the cabin!Signs of spring were evident, however, weather continues to plague Southwest Missouri. (Heard about the flooding problems? Wow- much more damage than I imagined!)
Everything is more fun with a "talkie walkie."

Exploring the quarry outbuildings.

Flowerwaving, spring loving, cabin girl!

Who loves the treehouse?

Who is sitting on my porch swing??

Just in case you thought the flooding in SW Missouri was a hoax...here is the road to "town" from the cabin:

MAJOR highways were closed due to flooding, houses washed away, property damage is extensive.

Budding Artist and Author

"Molly and Dora are friends. I love Snowbelle and Sizzler and Molly and Dora. By Sadie"
I swear the only word I spelled for her was "by." She worked and sounded all of this out in her "art studio" today! I don't know if it is from too many years of teaching reading, but I can't think of anything cuter than someone sounding out words! This morning she labeled her coloring book as "Sadie's buk." It sure makes you think about spelling and English!

Bloo Unykrns.

Ok- indulge the nerdy teacher for a moment...

The FOUR year old (ok, almost five) year old in our house is spelling phonetically! If you look closely at this picture she drew the new cats "Szlr" (Sizzler) and "Sowbll" (Snowbelle.) She made a picture of her soccer team the Bloo Unykrns. She is really practicing her sounds and reading "Hop on Pop" every night! The kindergartener in our house thinks it is pretty fun to sit back and listen to her read...he is not so interested.

Top of the Mornin!

My dear friend Trevor and wife Lisa have arrived in Zambia as Peace Corp volunteers. If you have crossed paths with Trevor and/or are interested in what a life in the Peace Corp in Zambia might be like feel free to keep track of them with this link:
