Still singing Happy Birthday!?

We are still celebrating Oliver's birthday! Uncle Lendsey came to visit with friend Ashley and Aunt Ashley came out with presents galore! O tried on the hoodie to make up for not even opening it all the way when he saw it was clothes. His favorite present, however, was the "trick tracks" that add on to his "dino trick tracks." Uncle Lendsey really got into building the Rube Goldberg-esque track, too!

Goodbye Cousin!

Spring Snow Day!

We ended up with 6 inches of snow on top of rain and freezing rain. This made for a fun, but slushy mess on Sunday! We had fun on the sled and on the tractor- all around the neighborhood- Farmer Trafton! The dogs were in the middle of it all, too!

Freak Spring Storm

All day Saturday we were saturated with every possible type of precipitation imaginable. It started as pouring rain, then freezing rain, sleet/hail, then my favorite- huge wet snow blobs the size of cotton balls. We need more words for snow- I am pretty sure we had "snain." It was a beautiful mess. I wonder how the tulips and blooming trees will be affected?

Young Author's Celebration

Sadie (and Oliver...sort of...long story...) were recognized at the Young Author's Celebration- a school district writing contest. About 20-30 students are honored per grade level as young authors based on their teacher's submissions to the judging committee. (This is quite an honor due to size of the school district with 18 schools and each teacher only allowed to submit 3 entries!)

Author, Pamela Duncan Edwards and Illustrator, Henry Cole, were the keynote speakers and they signed books for all the "young authors" following the event during the reception. They did an amazing job of making the students feel exceptionally special!

Emma-Love

Sadie can barely get through a day without her best friend, Emma. She sees her at school all afternoon, soccer practice, soccer games, t-ball practice, in the neighborhood and frequent playdates and get togethers! Luckily, I love Emma's mom so this works out well! "Emma-love" hit an all time high when they played all day and then had a "movie night" together!

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Spring Break Staycation Update Continued- St. Patrick's Day included a trip to downtown Lees Summit to the store, Doughtery and Sullivans (a worthy destination if you are in the area), a full blown doll birthday party and green lemonade and cookies!!

Old Friend, New Friends

It is so exciting to reconnect with an dear friend- in person! It is very validating to know you have always had such enjoyable and wonderful people in your life!

Then it is even more wonderful when your children connect and become fast friends! You can tell from the pictures that they had the best time together!!

BTW- thank you CA for helping me with my NCAA bracket! We are doing awesome!!

If you take her shopping with you...

...You may find a treasure you can't leave at the store!

Amazing Human Tricks

I don't even want to know how high he is off the ground!

Dare Devils! A rare "man down" view of a stunt man down...

Agility courses- not just for canines anymore!

Staycation Highlight Reel #2 "Dog Day"

Sadie's idea for our "staycation" was a "dog day."
Her vision for this day was that the dogs would be pampered and spoiled all day!
Her vision came true!
The day started with a looooooooong walk, a snooze in the sun in the backyard and a full pooperscooping of the backyard... Then, we stepped it up a notch and took them to the spa. At the "self serve dog wash" aka Brookside Barkery, they were washed with premier shampoos and conditioners, blown dry, brushed and coiffed, got pedicures, special treats and new collars!

Before...

Seriously- spa day! I don't like this!

Do we look FABULOUS!?

Then we went to the vet for Molly to weigh in at her doggie weight watchers plan. She had lost a full seven 7! pounds (think an entire Chihauhua!) in two and half weeks. We went out for ice cream to celebrate...

Doggie Cone- gone in one gulp.

Then, a quick stop at Animal Control (Dora's home away from home) for new dog licences so we were legal for the dog park. (We checked in on the less fortunate...and said a little doggie prayer that all the homeless friends find homes...)

Then, off"Happy Tails" dog park was a full two hours of romp and play with all the other off leash friends!

Look at that fur! I want to use that conditioner on MY hair!

Agility course? Not now, I am too busy looking fabulous!

Yesterday, Sadie made homemade dog biscuits for Molly, Dora and all the neighborhood dogs. We culminated "dog day" by personally delivering two of the homemade delicacies to each neighbor dog on her bike. (A challenging math problem for Sadie to figure out how many for "Grandma" Cindy who has taken in 6 of her own, plus dogsitting one, plus her mom moved in! 16 treats barely fit in the bag!)

Delivery Girl!

Needless to say, the children and the dogs are all snug in their beds!
